SOMAÍ Pharmaceuticals Newsletter - May 2022

Last month Portugal added another registered cultivation facility. As of today, there are 20 fully licensed medical cannabis growers in Portugal - with the last one receiving full license just a few days ago - and 3 of them have certified GMP post-harvest processing areas.

And big news out of Germany when the Health Minister Karl Lauterbach announced that the draft law for adult-use cannabis legalization is now being prepared and they are accelerating the process. This was a big surprise for everyone, as the German Health Minister was always opposed to cannabis legalization, but as he announced, he believes the harms of not legalizing outweigh legalizing. Now, many expect that more countries will follow the German lead and the European cannabis landscape will be changing rapidly.
